This Year’s 2012 Saturday InDesign hosted by Melbourne was one to be recognised at. Richmond the major precinct of them all offered a taste of everything the event had to offer, with strong design, arts and culture exhibited throughout.
The standouts included: Reece Bathroom Life, Zuster, Insitu, Eastern Commercial Furniture, Bespoke Tile & Stone/Earp Bros, Tongue n Groove, Image Interiors, Space, Zip Industries, Interface and How We Create.
Whilst Reece showcased its new Spanish brand “Roca” visitors enjoyed paella, tapas and sangria during the day. Zuster’s bright and lively showroom was a highlight (pictured above). Upstairs recently was opened and designed by SJB, fulfilled two strikingly styled fully furnished apartments which inspired guests and showcased products from the Zuster range. Though, I wasn’t lucky to win one of the two trips to Spain at Bespoke Tile & Stone/Earp Bros. I was lucky enough to meet Projection Artist- “Kit Webster” and “Chiara KickDrum” Sound Designer and Composer. Who together exhibited an impressive projection and sound show emphasising reflection, graphics and sound, relative to the true nature of the tiles featured. (You might also be familiar with Kit Webster’s wild projection art currently being projected over the facade of the Bimbos Building-376 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, Victoria).
Inspired by the experience, creativeness and energy built by Saturday InDesign, I am now looking forward to visiting the Sydney show in 2013, with high expectations of course!
